Dr. Dan Peavy, a lifetime resident of San Antonio, attended Alamo Heights Schools. He also graduated from Culver Military Academy Naval Summer School.

 

After completing his undergraduate work at Southern Methodist University he pursued his professional degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, as well as his Master of Science in Orthodontics to become a second-generation orthodontist.

 

While serving as Captain in the United States Air Force in Japan, Dr. Peavy performed work in an orthodontic capacity. He then returned to San Antonio to private practice.

 

Dr. Peavy has served as President of the San Antonio District Dental Society, the Texas Association of Orthodontists, the Baylor Orthodontic Alumni Association and Baylor Dental Alumni Association. He has been a Trustee of Baylor College of Dentistry.

 

Dr. Peavy has been a Director of the Southwestern Society of Orthodontist, a delegate to the American Association of Orthodontist and a Regent with the AAOF Foundation. Other professional member-ships are the American Dental Association and the Texas Orthodontic Study Club.

 

Dr. Peavy has served as Professor and Chairman for the Undergraduate Department of Orthodontics at the University of Texas Dental School in San Antonio. Currently he serves as Adjunct Professor to the Graduate Orthodontic Department.

 

Dr. Peavy is honored to be a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and in the first group nationally to be re-certified, a member of the Dental Honorary Society, Omikron Kappa Upsilon and a Fellow in the American College of Dentistry, the International College of Dentistry, the Academy of Dentistry International, the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation and the Academy of General Dentistry.

 

As an Orthodontist, Dr. Peavy’s particular focus in the field of dentistry is on orthognathic surgery. Throughout his career he has seen the orthodontic specialty broaden in interdisciplinary treatment with other specialties of dentistry where he has been a continual student. Attention to detail and pride in his profession are important parts of promoting this philosophy.

 

He is a member of the Downtown Rotary Club. Previously he served on the City Council of Alamo Heights and as a Director of the National Bank of Fort Sam Houston as well as Trustee to Texas Military Institute, the Institute of Texan Cultures and Advisor to the Health Careers High School.

 

He and his wife, Harriet, attend Redeemer Presbyterian Church. They have two married sons, Daniel and his wife, Janet, and Gardner and his wife, Jill. Each have three children. His hobbies are manual labor at their ranch and participation in sports.
